About The Light (Sunplus Remix)

Sunplus (Londond based producer/artist Rob Shields) provides the second in a series of eight remixes of Emma-Kate Matthews' 2020 'Far Flung' EP.

Emma-Kate Matthews is a London-based multidisciplinary artist, composer and architect and released the Far Flung EP on Algebra Records at the end of 2020 as a series of limited edition transparent lathe cut 12"s with handmade textile artwork and audio-reactive visuals. Far Flung is a complex collage of dance floor adjacent electronica that gets you thinking and moving.

Rob Shields, aka Sunplus, follows his 2020 album More Colour (Algebra), 2021 album 'Clear Muted Sign Recovery' (Submarine Broadcast Company) and 'Stimulus Solar Vitamin'' EP (self released) with his remix of 'About The Light'.

Rob's remix was recorded while living by the sea in Wales and continues the same style of MORE COLOUR, albeit with a more fluid and unfixed relationship with 'the grid'. "The remix utilises randomly generated patterns and rhythms, meaning I let the software write a lot of the music for me."

Rob previously collaborated with Emma-Kate on their DIAS 'East Of The Active' sound art EP (2018, Algebra).

Each remix includes new video art by Emma-Kate.

The remixes are being released once per week until the album 'Flung Further' is released in full on the 8th of December 2021 with remixes from Heavenly Stems, Casually Here, Dampé, Eye Measure, Julia-Sophie, Ben McDonnell and Emma-Kate Matthews herself.
